Literature
McCracken emigrated to New Zealand via Australia. He studied at Elam. After serving as a gunner in WWII, he returned to New Zealand. He exhibited with his friend John Weeks and Robert Johnson in Soldier Artist Exhibition. He also studied at Andre Lhote's studio in Paris
