Important & Rare Art

Important & Rare Art auctions are the proven, pre-eminent sale category for major works of art offered for sale in New Zealand.

These auctions take place three times annually. Due to an appreciative, and greatly valued clientele of nationwide and international buyers and sellers we look forward to breaking new ground. Charles Frederick Goldie, Colin McCahon, Rita Angus, Gottfried Lindauer and Frances Hodgkins are just some of the highlighted artist's we seek for these sales.

Our experienced and dedicated team are available to discuss inclusion of artworks in forthcoming auctions. We understand the importance of pre-sale marketing and personal customer service.

We publish a dedicated Important & Rare Art auction catalogue, which is produced to the highest standard. The catalogue along with our extensive online and print based marketing will ensure wide collector interest for works included in our signature sale. Because we sell art and only art, vendors are assured of excellent service with full commitment to their requirements.

Women in Art

Taking place once a year in May and as the first auction of its kind in New Zealand, Women in Art is dedicated in its entirety to artworks created by Women Artists.

The auction celebrates the unique perspectives, innovative dialogues, and vital contributions of female artists in New Zealand. This highly anticipated sale showcases the vision and talent of both established and emerging artists, offering collectors a deeper understanding of the women who have helped shape our artistic landscape.

This live in room auction offers collectors the opportunity to browse and acquire a diverse range of artworks from leading New Zealand and International artists. A published auction catalogue is produced to accompany the sale, which includes a range of specially commissioned essays.

Collectable

A Collectable sale embraces all fields, tastes and artistic endeavours and fall into a range of categories. A staple in our auction calendar, the Collectable sale offers a broad range of paintings, sculpture and multiples.

Sales of Modern and Contemporary art play an integral role in providing market access to the most sought-after artists many of whom have defined New Zealand's art narrative over the past 50 years. These sales present an exciting offering of both painting and sculpture by a range of our modern and contemporary greats.

Spanning that vital period from the establishment of mid-century modernism through to the cutting edge of our national contemporary art discourse, this is an acclaimed and significant event in the auction calendar.

Whether you’re looking to start your collection, or expand to it, our Collectable sale offers artworks to fit all collections.

Art at Home

As well as our regular live in room auctions International Art Centre holds timed online only auctions and is continually consigning works to these sales. These auctions achieve remarkable results for both New Zealand and International artists.

Our Art at Home auctions offers collectors the opportunity to browse and acquire a diverse array of contemporary and traditional art, from emerging newcomers to established staples. All works are available to view a week prior to the online sale.

Single Vendor Collections

From time to time, the secondary market is fortunate enough to be exposed to one of those rare collections which transcends the value of its individual works of art, and stands to represent something iconic in its entirety.

International Art Centre is well-versed in the process of offering single-owner collections for sale, and take pride in the process of curating a single-owner sale when the opportunity arises. We offer a targeted marketing campaign and maximise the use of both electronic and print-based collateral to effectively showcase such collections to maximum effect.

Private Treaty

International Art Centre's decades of experience working with artists, vendors, collectors and institutions mean we possess a sound understanding of the best medium through which to present works to the auction market. For various reasons, you may consider it more appropriate or wish to sell an artwork privately, rather than presenting it publicly to the auction market. Guaranteeing confidence and discretion, International Art Centre's unparalleled and targeted access to a network of collectors means we are able to oversee the private sale of your work. For certain works, this has proven to be an especially effective method of sale; we encourage you to get in touch for an obligation-free discussion around the process and how we may best facilitate this.
