How to Sell at Auction
Request a Valuation
We provide complimentary appraisals, which allow you to understand the current market value of your artwork/s.
You are able to submit items for valuation here.
Consignment Agreement
After receiving an appraisal and confirming the acceptance of works to auctions, we will provide a consignment agreement for your approval. This document sets out the confirmed auction date, agreed reserve price, commission structure and any applicable fees. Our specialists are available to guide you through each step of the process to ensure clarity and transparency.
Artwork Cataloguing
Upon arrival at International Art Centre, your artwork is carefully received, catalogued, and researched by our specialist team. Each work is professionally photographed to showcase it at its very best, with catalogue entries highlighting provenance, exhibition history and scholarly references where relevant. This process ensures your artwork is presented to the market with accuracy, depth and appeal.
Before the Auction
Your artwork will be exhibited in our Parnell auction rooms for a week prior to the auction, providing collectors, curators and advisors the opportunity to view in person. For major sales, such as Important & Rare Art and Women in Art, your work will be included in a beautifully produced printed catalogue. Works included in online-only auctions are fully illustrated and detailed on our digital bidding platform, ensuring wide and international reach.
Auction
Upon the publication of the auction catalogue online, a presale notification is distributed to all vendors, featuring a link to the sale catalogue. This enables you to monitor the status and progress of your item/s. Additionally, we consistently engage with our subscribers through email, social media, and search engine results to enhance the visibility of your items.
For live in room auctions, your artwork will go under the hammer by our experienced and industry leading Auctioneer, Richard Thomson. You are welcome to attend in person, or follow the excitement online through our live bidding platform and mobile app.
Post Auction
All artwork results are available immediately during and post sale on our bidding platform. In the event a work is marked as subject or remains unsold, one of our specialists will contact you promptly to discuss any post-auction interest and present offers where appropriate.
Payment
Following a successful sale, settlement is processed within 20 working days, provided payment has been received from the buyer. A detailed seller statement outlining hammer price, commission, and any applicable fees will accompany your payment.
