Anthony D Blake

(B. 1951, Auckland)

A D Blake is one of the world's foremost maritime artists. After gaining a Master of Engineering degree at Auckland University he pursued his family’s passions for sailing and painting, gaining international recognition for both.

Blake’s work is hung in collections throughout the United States, Canada, Virgin Islands, Britain and Australiasia. He has received commissions from the New York Yacht Club, the Herreshoff Maritime Museum, Rhode Island and the Storm Trysail Yacht Club, New York. His paintings have been published in The Holy Grail of Yachting: The Art of the America's Cup, The History of the Eastern Yacht Club, Massachusetts and Yachts On Canvas by James Taylor, Greenwich Maritime Museum, London. In 2025 he won the yachting award for the Schaeffer International Marine Art Exhibition, held in Newport, Rhode Island. Blake is past chairman of the New Zealand Classic Yacht Association, and when not sailing with his family, he lives and works in Auckland.
