Andrea Mazzoli
Andrea Mazzoli takes inspiration from daily village life and the surrounding natural world of his small village in the Val Colvera to the north east of Italy
Andrea Mazzoli
(b. 1964, Italy)
Andrea Mazzoli lives in the Friuli-Venezia region of north-east Italy. His small village, nestled amongst the mountains of Val Colvera is listed as one of the most beautiful in Italy. It is from daily village life that Mazzoli draws his inspiration. Having mastered a unique, mixed-media technique enabling him to re-create the textured appearance of stone and plaster walls he uses this as the backdrop in many of his works. His paintings focus on capturing both the natural world and rural architectural as seen in his Portal Series featuring iron-worked doorways and shuttered windows.
Mazzoli's smaller works of tiny finches and birdlife from the Messenger Series are particularly appealing, he is an artist of infinite skill who succeeds in capturing the spirit and essence of his subjects.
