Italy
For over 25 years International Art Centre has represented Italian-based artists in New Zealand. This exhibition is a celebration of the diversity and style embodied in paintings and ceramics imported directly from their studios. Highlights include a new series of Guffi italiani (owl) frescoes created by Maestro Anselmi. For the first time Andrea Mazzoli contributes his unique mix-media pieces. Carlo Mirabasso's latest collection of exceptional ceramics are adorned with the joyful symbols of Umbria and her sister region Toscana. Senior Milanese artist Paolo Canetti presents a collection of contemporary works capturing the Italian lifestyle in his own unique style and palette.
Paintings by leading Australian artist Kasey Sealy, who paints and teaches in Tuscany, feature in this bi-annual event, along with those of our own Simon Williams. Both artists spent time working together in Italy for this exhibition. Here, they join their Italian colleagues in strengthening the creative bonds between our two lands in this offering of excellence.
