North & South is an exhibition showcasing ten major large scale canvases by leading New Zealand impressionist, Simon Williams.

Icons of Auckland is a group exhibition by eight leading resident and visiting artists to our beautiful City of Sails. New Zealand's most populous city and its largest port, Auckland occupies a narrow isthmus between the Waitemata Harbour of the Hauraki Gulf and the Manukau Harbour.

What a rare gift it is, to capture and convey 'a slice of heaven on earth' through an arrangement of brilliantly placed brushstrokes.

A silver lining to recent global events has been the gift of time. As the pace of life slowed, many of us found ourselves looking anew at the art upon our walls. With travel plans on hold, we were reminded of the visual value of art. A painting has the power to transport the viewer, elevate the spirits and give us pause for reflection. A painting can make us happy, and that in itself is no simple thing.

As our fellow companions in life and art, this exhibition honours the special relationship between man and the animal kingdom. Featured works include contemporary bird paintings by Wyoming-based Nicola Marshall, the fantasy realism of Jasmine Middlebrook and from the Whanganui studio of Timon Maxey, cubist compositions of pastoral New Zealand.

Our New Zealand, the title of this exhibition resonates deeply, even more-so than during initial discussions with invited artists over two years ago. Through the lens of recent events, the benefits and blessings of being one with Our New Zealand have never been greater or more appreciated.

Highlights include a new series of Guffi italiani (owl) frescoes created by Maestro Anselmi. For the first time Andrea Mazzoli contributes his unique mix-media pieces. Carlo Mirabasso's latest collection of exceptional ceramics are adorned with the joyful symbols of Umbria and her sister region Toscana. Senior Milanese artist Paolo Canetti presents a collection of contemporary works capturing the Italian lifestyle in his own unique style and palette.

New Zealand from North to South - no place like it - a geographical gem - two small islands abundantly endowed by nature - cloaked in contrast - a painter's dream. Dunedin born, Auckland based artist Simon Williams is New Zealand's very own master impressionist. His paintings deservedly adorn walls worldwide and in themselves, these works of art are visual ambassadors for the land we love.

From the Mount Eden studio of leading New Zealand artist Simon Williams comes a collection of over twenty five dazzling new paintings. Created over four years, inspired by plein air journeys throughout the North and South Islands, Patterns of the Land is the most major exhibition in the thirty year career of this Dunedin born impressionist. An exhibition of artistic exploration and unbounded achievement.

The gallery calendar opens with the most important exhibition of works held in the last five years. Three years in the planning culminates in a showing of over 60 paintings and artworks by world-class professional artists. The best, the brightest, the most beautiful from studios around the globe.

In these new works I have not allowed the subject to influence the canvas size. Intimate coastal scenes that once would have been painted as small works, are now rendered on a large scale. I've enjoyed the contrast of small scenes being painted large. These paintings are a tribute to our golden summer.

From earliest times artists have been fascinated by the vital element of water. The water-bearer appears in the art of classical Greece and Rome signifying industry, abundance and beauty. Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci spent a life time drawing water in motion. The Impressionists, radically capturing the effects of light, gifted the world with paintings such as Renoir's Boating Party and Monet's Waterlillies.

A collection of invited artists will showcase an impressive exhibition of flowers, gold leaf, mixed media. Large and small scale canvases along with works on paper, studies from the artists studios will also be on view and available to purchase We look forward to presenting Botanica and welcoming you to the gallery.

As often happens, when we are fortunate, dreams are embraced and given life by others, in this case the wonderfully talented artists featured in this exhibition.

In the midst of our mild southern hemisphere winter it has been a little like Christmas as paintings for this year's Winter Salon arrive at the gallery. Welcoming over sixty new works, by fifteen outstanding professional artists, is a cause celebre indeed.

New Zealand, a land of such contrasting coastlines, gifts the artist with a wealth of subject matter and challenges. The sheltered, sandy white beaches of the East Coast are an artistic world away from the dramatic scenery of the rugged West. Born in the South, now living in the North, the artist has a wide knowledge and deep passion for the landscape of his homeland.

As always New Zealand scenes by Simon Williams, Geoffrey Shaw, Brian Dahlberg and Lance O'Gorman capture the spirit and varied beauty of our land. These works are complimented by the subtle and stylish waterclours of Ted Sherwen.
