This exhibition is a testament to man's affection and affiliation with the animal kingdom. An artistic acknowledgment of the companions with whom we share our homes, lives and hearts.

From a slightly softer perspective, our annual Les Femmes exhibition is an artistic collaboration by invited artists, both resident and international.

Invited international and local artists collaborate in the creation of works of art celebrating the harmonious yin and yang of life.

As our fellow companions in life and art, this exhibition honours the special relationship between man and the animal kingdom. Featured works include contemporary bird paintings by Wyoming-based Nicola Marshall, the fantasy realism of Jasmine Middlebrook and from the Whanganui studio of Timon Maxey, cubist compositions of pastoral New Zealand.

For over 15 years the paintings of Eugenea have been sold by International Art Centre to a worldwide clientele. A graduate of Moscow's leading Surikov Art Academy and the daughter of renowned artist, Boris Belmasov, Eugenea is an artist of rare and extraordinary talent. Living in New Zealand since 1994 she has exhibited with distinction in Germany, Switzerland and the United States.

From time immemorial the female form has inspired, fascinated, captivated and eluded artists. The most well known painting in the world is of a woman, and whether we are viewing a Leonardo, a Picasso or an Andrew Wyeth, more often than not, the feminine is acknowledged.

Our Winter Salon unfolds as a rich tapestry of talent and colour. Against nature's backdrop of grey skies this outstanding collection is guaranteed to brighten the outlook and lift the spirits. From earliest times artists have been fascinated by the vital element of water. The water-bearer appears in the art of classical Greece and Rome signifying industry, abundance and beauty. Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci spent a life time drawing water in motion. The Impressionists, radically capturing the effects of light, gifted the world with paintings such as Renoir's Boating Party and Monet's Waterlillies.

Masters is a exhibition of works by top of the pyramid painters. What does this mean? Visualise a pyramid - the base consists of a wide, supportive foundation narrowing to an apex. As often happens, when we are fortunate, dreams are embraced and given life by others, in this case the wonderfully talented artists featured in this exhibition.

Floral abundance has long been a theme beloved by artists. Ancient civilizations used floral motifs as adornment. Floral symbolism played an important part in early religious art, whilst by the 1400's Northern European artists were refining the genre of still life painting. Today, works by Patricia Payne and Marietta embody these historical artistic traditions.

In the midst of our mild southern hemisphere winter it has been a little like Christmas as paintings for this year's Winter Salon arrive at the gallery. Welcoming over sixty new works, by fifteen outstanding professional artists, is a cause celebre indeed.

Anselmi Italia is an exhibition of excellence featuring over seventy exciting new works by Franco Anselmi and Italian based artists Paolo Canetti, Raimondo Roberti, Maria Serafina, Eros Rumour and Carlo Mirabasso.

As always New Zealand scenes by Simon Williams, Geoffrey Shaw, Brian Dahlberg and Lance O'Gorman capture the spirit and varied beauty of our land. These works are complimented by the subtle and stylish waterclours of Ted Sherwen.
